As moms, it’s so easy to get caught up in the details of the moments of our busy lives. And if those moments are marked by frustration or disappointment, sometimes we don’t even realize that they set a tone, or become a filter through which we see the rest of our entire day.
How quickly it happens without us even recognizing it!!
We don’t get enough sleep because we were up with a sick one several times in the night. Our thoughts or tone are often less than joyful, and rules the rest of the day.
We get the news we didn’t want to hear. We feel sorry for ourselves for weeks.
Someone compares us to someone else or criticizes us. We are ruled by thoughts of inadequacy for days, weeks, or months. We decide we don’t measure up.
We have “morning” sickness for months on end. We begin to feel hopeless and that we are merely surviving.
Any of this sound familiar at all?
And even though many of us are Christians, we are ruled by these emotions. Emotions from situations in a temporary journey!!
Are you catching what I’m saying yet?
Moms, what is it that is ruling over you today? Money worries? Marriage issues? Kids fighting? Depression?
Yes, these things are important to deal with, of course! But they are temporary issues in a temporary world. We are on such a short road in comparison to our lives in Eternity!
Instead of allowing negative emotions to rule your day – day after day – set your feet on the solid path, and remember that no matter what temporary situations, no matter how hard, you may face, are nothing in comparison to the Great I AM who reigns in your heart!
Instead of allowing sadness and hopelessness to govern your walk and your day and your time, start each day by giving it to The One who created you, The One who knew you before He even knit you together in your mother’s womb. And let His peace that passes all understanding be your foundation, your light, your hope, your joy. Pray and ask Him each morning to rule over your heart, your life, your will, your emotions, and your journey. He draws near to those who draw near to Him.
Blessings to all of you as you journey onward!
