What Moms Need: Week 24 – Strength

Some days it takes more strength than others to be a mom.  And moms need strength of all kinds.

For sure, physical strength, for the lifting and carrying of little ones.  For the helping of teenage boys with broken legs from football injuries into the van.  For doing three loads of dishes a day, in spite of an enormous belly that is putting extra strain on a mama’s back.

And moms need mental strength for the day to day challenges they face in caring for their families and their homes.  More than just commitment to a good routine, moms need the mental tenacity to endure sticking with it, day in and day out.

And spiritually, moms need to be strong in their relationship with the Lord.  There’s no doubt that mothers are more equipped with the character of Christ if their relationship with Him is strong.

The three go together, actually.  We’re wired that way, to be creatures with physical, mental, and spiritual components that all work together and affect the other.  If there’s a breakdown in one, it eventually shows up in all three areas.  And if a person is spiritually strong, then they are better equipped mentally and ultimately, physically, too.

I believe that it all starts there, with God.  I believe that He is the Ultimate Source.  He is the bottom line.  He is where the foundation is built.

I invite you, young mothers, to pursue Him.  If you think you need more physical strength because you can’t handle the load, He has the solution.  If you think you’re mentally drained and have no idea what to do next, He’s got the answer.  It all starts with Him.  He is the Source of strength.  The source of life.

Where beauty and joy and peace reside….with Him….is where you’ll find strength.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.  Nehemiah 8:10

Seek Him.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.  Matthew 6:33
