Truth in the Tinsel: Teaching Your Children About the Real Meaning of Christmas {and a Giveaway!}

I just love this e-book by Amanda White of Impress Your Kids and Oh Amanda.

If you’ve ever wanted a fun, easy, practical way to teach your little ones about the true meaning of Christmas, then Truth in the Tinsel is the perfect little package for you.

A children’s-minister-turned-mom, Amanda has put it all together for us, giving us the craft idea with complete how-to’s and supply lists, Scriptures to discuss with your children, discussion ideas and more.

A simple, yet profound activity designed  to teach young children, Amanda describes her book saying,

“This is an adventure for families to learn the story together. It’s an experience with the greatest story every written and the greatest gift ever given—God’s own Son, Jesus the Christ!”

  1. Would love to try this for our 4 little ones this year!

  2. This would be awesome for my son!

  3. We read the Bible and try to remind them that it is Jesus’ birthday.

  4. Emmy Gallodoro says:

We made a calendar and every night my boys get to pick one and we read the scripture from our bible and then read the correlating story out of their storybook bible. We started this to countdown to Christmas but I’m going to continue it every month.

  5. Hoping for one. Sounds great.

  6. We have been doing the advent wreath with our 4 year old, lighting a new candle every Sunday. She doesn’t entirely get it, but it is a great start to this tradition!

  7. Love all of the advent calendar ideas

  8. We haven’t really had to do it yet, but mostly going through the bible story as many times and different ways as possible is our “plan”.

  9. I would love to do this with my daughter!

  10. Just found your blog and I love it!

  11. Looks Fun!

  12. Bethany B. says:

We buy and read a new Christmas book every year that helps enforce/reiterate the story of Christ’s birth.

  13. Would love to win. Thanks for the opportunity!

  14. Wanted to let you know that I’m trying to use the discount code and it keeps telling me it’s invalid. Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

  15. This year, we are doing a writing project on the nativity.

  16. We sing Christmas carols.

  17. I’ve heard so many great reviews of this. It looks like the thing to do this year!

  18. Ooops. You can delete my last comment. I didn’t find the question until I tried to check it off the Rafflecopter. We reinact the nativity, as well as reading the story. We don’t do advent every night, but we do some advent.

  19. My husband and I were just talking about this!

  20. This year we got a nativity set and explained the story to my 3yo daughter. This year was the first year that she actually kind of “got it”.

  21. We read advent scripture, but I would love to add the ornament crafts and use the truth in tinsel. I just went to purchase and your coupon code didn’t work. Just thought I would let you know. 🙂

  22. Never heard of this. Sounds fun to check out (or win)!!

  23. Christina A. says:

What a wonderful experience for the whole family. Thanks for this offer!

  24. This sounds fantastic!

  25. We talk about the Nativity and read Bible stories together.

  26. A great tradition to start with my 2 year old!

  27. We already do quite a bit, but this looks interesting and fun! Thanks for the offer!

  28. Kristen E. says:

Since my little ones are still very young (I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old–both girls), we’ve spent a lot of time this year just reading good quality Christmas books that talk about the story of Jesus’ birth. Whenever our toddler sees a present and shows interest in it, we discuss how it’s for Jesus’ birthday and that’s why we give and get presents.

  29. Michele Villano says:

We read a lot of books, and I always love the little youtube videos that come out. There’s one by The Piano Guys that is just beautiful!

  30. Pamela Cross says:

Would be great to give to my Grandson’s!

  31. Love to win! 🙂
