Our Kindergartener’s Curriculum

Drew is absolutely thriving with the curriculum we chose for him for Kindergarten this year.  He thoroughly enjoys “schooltime” and if/when I’m busy at one of his brothers’ desks, and he’s finished a page he’s been working on, he’s eager for me to get back to him, to move him on to the next fun thing for him to do.  That’s the way he sees it – as fun – and I LOVE that!  I can’t be sure, but I think his favorite subject is math, so far, as he wants to just keep going and going every day.  I have to tell him that we’ve done enough of that, and that we need to do something else now.  He amazes me.

Here’s what we picked for him this year mostly from Abeka and we just LOVE it:

Enjoying the school year so much already!  Are you?

  1. Thanks for all the great links! I just ordered Bible studies to read, for my twins. You are an inspiration! 7 boys! Homeschooled! Amazing! God Bless.

  2. I have been silently ‘stalking’ your blog for over a year and love all your posts 🙂 We have just made the decision to homeschool our 3 oldest children starting this fall (and we are expecting #5 in July, so there are moments when I think I must be crazy). I was just wondering if you could tell me what you thought of Abeka’s kindergarten math now that you have finished the school year. If I use the workbook, do I need the teacher’s manual or not? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

    • I have used it with several boys and it is good. Very basic, but good. My kindergartener finished that book months ago, and I had to buy him a first grade book for the rest of the year. So, I think it all depends on the kiddo. I will say that for the most part, I’ve seen that kids need something else to go with it. And no, don’t bother with a teacher’s manual. You can see what you need to teach them by looking at the page at this stage. 🙂 Blessings!! 🙂
