Instead of eating one big meal for a special birthday or even a holiday, sometimes, we eat an assortment of appetizers instead.
I know, that’s a little different!
But finger foods, dips, and just miniature foods in general are right up my family’s alley.
It’s an easy way to try out multiple recipes, and if one doesn’t seem to go over well, there’s still plenty to eat.
One of our favorite appetizers is crab dip, made with real crab, not imitation. Sure, it’s a bit pricier, but the taste is so much more flavorful.
I watch our stores for sales, and usually purchase either claw crab meat or lump, depending on my budget and the sale. These are usually found in small cans or plastic containers in the seafood department.
But, feel free to use imitation is that’s what works for you!
I like to serve this crab dip with either crackers or pita chips. Overall, it’s a nicer appetizer for special occasions – perfect for the holidays or bringing to a family get-together.
Plus, it’s super easy to whip up!
Hot Crab Dip
- 8 oz. crab claw meat or lump crab
- 8 oz. softened cream cheese
- 1 cup mayo
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1/3 can chopped artichoke hearts (optional, but we love them in!)
- 3 oz. parmesan cheese
- a pinch of both garlic and onion salts
Blend all ingredients together really well except the parmesan cheese. Spread into an square baking dish (I’ve used a 9×13 as well) and sprinkle the cheese on top. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Allow to sit for a minute or two before serving.
