Oh. My. Goodness, y’all.
I have always been one of “those” people. You know the ones. People who turn their noses up at cooked fruit desserts. I have hardly EVER even cared to try, much less enjoyed a cooked fruit type dessert.
Until recently when I became old interested enough to try a few. I absolutely LOVE the pear pecan muffins which use fresh, diced pears. Oh, my! They are heavenly!
And then I went to a pre-Thanksgiving party where I tasted this amazing dessert using only three ingredients! I had probably heard of it before, but of course, paid no attention since it had the dreaded cooked fruit in it that I so wholeheartedly avoided.
But it smelled….amazing. So inviting. And I have a thing for cobblers, I guess, since my Grandma did teach me to at least enjoy her peach cobbler.
And after just one bite, I was sold.
Normally, I don’t even buy boxed cake mix. Or fruit pie filling for that matter. But this stuff is so good, I didn’t waste much time before I made my own. And I won’t make it often, but for an occasional special treat, or a holiday celebration, it’s so good!
You won’t believe how easy this thing is to put together. And one of the neat things about it is that it feeds a big group of people! It’s perfect for holiday family get-togethers.

We can’t get the canned apple filling here in Holland.. what could i use instead?
Here’s a recipe for home made apple pie filling. You might be able to freeze what you can’t use if this makes too much.
