Easy, Fluffy Biscuits

004 (640x427)

I've experimented with biscuit recipes for a very long time now.  There's just something about a homemade biscuit that's special.  A good, fluffy, soft biscuit tastes like home. I like this other buttermilk recipe that's pretty good, too, but this one is my  new favorite!  My good bloggy friend Candace at Sacred Mommyhood shared it with me a while back, promising it is the perfect biscuit … [Read more...]

Buttermilk Biscuits

002 (640x427)

These biscuits are the perfect match for chocolate gravy. Or regular gravy. Or scrambled eggs. Or use them for making bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches. We ate them like this for breakfast this morning: … [Read more...]

Waffles

004 (640x427)

We love waffles, but eat them far less regularly than we do pancakes.  And I"m not sure why.  They're actually just as easy to make with my neat little waffle iron. I almost always make plain waffles and then also some blueberry waffles - especially for Nolan, who is a big blueberry fan. I use the same recipe as I do for pancakes, but am careful not to add too much milk, since batter for … [Read more...]

Winter Granola

winter granola

Pin It There are no words to describe this granola except delicious! Or maybe... Um, can I have some more, please? As you probably already know, I'm a big fan of granola. Granola for cereal. Chocolate granola bars. Peanut butter granola bars. Granola energy balls. And I like the recipe even more when it's a no-bake recipe like the ones above. So, I admit … [Read more...]

Sausage Balls

sausage balls

These sausage balls are so simple to make, and really yummy, too!  I'm normally not a big fan of sausage, but these are a fun treat for every once in a while. Served with fruit salad and maybe a carrot zucchini muffin, they make a great breakfast! One batch makes about two dozen - perfect for a party tray, or in our case, a snack for several boys. I'm planning on keeping this on my list … [Read more...]

Little Piggies (Mini Pigs in Blankets)

pigs

These are just the cutest little breakfast bites ever! The perfect size for three-year-old hands, and enticing enough for teenagers, they're loved by ALL our boys. I don't make them often, since the ingredients are less than "whole food" standard, but for a special treat now and then, I serve  them to my hungry bunch.  And as always, with any processed meats that may contain … [Read more...]

Simple Fruit Salad

fruitsalad

Fruit salad is an easy way for me to serve all the boys fruit at mealtime without worrying about who will eat what. For instance, Dylan likes apples and grapes, but not strawberries or nectarines. Levi eats the oranges and strawberries, but leaves the bananas. And most of the other boys will eat just about any of those fruits. By cutting up a variety of fruits and putting them all together in … [Read more...]

Chocolate Gravy

chocolate gravy

When I was little, we didn't make chocolate gravy.  Mom and Grandma made white gravy, but never chocolate.  Only when I was older did I hear of such a strange food.  I turned my nose up at it. Chocolate gravy? It sounded so weird. But let me tell you, friend.  Chocolate gravy is a very, very good thing.  I've now crossed on over. I believe in chocolate. And I believe in chocolate … [Read more...]
