Okay, so they just called and told me his bilirubin is still 12....That's what it was this morning with two bililights on him. That's what it was yesterday after two bililights for 24 hours.... SO......This is good news. They think it means he's probably peaked with the bilirubin climbing and now it's on its way back down on its own naturally. We've removed both bililights now and he is … [Read more...]
Ready to Be Back Together
We're still at the hospital. Landen's bilirubin hasn't climbed since yesterday and at the last blood draw was the same as yesterday. That's actually okay since he's "older" now. We removed one of the bililights and are going to test again at noon. If that test shows his bilirubin count is not going up too much without that light, we will remove the other light. They will then test his … [Read more...]
Bonding by Separation

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I believe this can be true, especially for children and their parents. As the school year drew to a close this year, and having pushed the boys to get through and finish their curriculum, we were burnt out in every sense of the word. Tired of sitting. Tired of the same books. Tired of the schoolroom. Tired of the monotony. And … [Read more...]
Enjoying the Scenery
All week long, I work. I mean I really work. Not to give myself a pat on the back, that's not the point. The truth is I have six young children and I don't really have a choice but to WORK. Truly six days a week. (I take the Bible pretty seriously.) Monday through Friday, my days are filled with cooking, cleaning, teaching, wiping, refereeing, cleaning, wiping, teaching, cooking, … [Read more...]

Why would it be any different for a mother? Sometimes motherhood is so much harder than at other times. I find that for me personally, winters are my roughest season. It never fails that just in time to coincide with … [Read more...]
A Chapter in our Lives: Lessons from 2009
This story actually began in 2008, and lasted well into this year. More challenges and difficulties that our family faced happened after this section of story was written, including the death of my sweet grandmother, our departure from Life Fellowship, our church home for six years, and our relocation to another city in Texas, so you will not see them listed here. Currently, and not surprisingly, … [Read more...]

The Ironies of Motherhood
August 12, 2008 (another oldie I dug up...) I am often intrigued by the ironies of motherhood like: why your baby sleeps fitfully all night long, only to crash hard as soon as it's time for you to get up how your toddler ONLY pees in his bed the same day you change his sheets when you're really tired and needing a good night's sleep, which just so happens to be the same night that … [Read more...]
