Well friends, the day has arrived! It’s time to begin 42 Days to Fit!
Are you excited? I am!
And I can hardly believe it’s been about three years since I last did this challenge. I got pretty fit during that journey. By the end of my personal 42 day challenge, I was able to run a 5K – a big deal for my then (relatively) sedentary self. I stayed pretty fit after that. I began training for a marathon soon after and did my first half marathon almost three years ago to the day. It was fun and rewarding. I was in better shape than I had been in a while.
And then. This sweet surprise ninth baby boy came onto the scene. I began the pregnancy way less active, but not unhealthy. But nausea and sickness were rough and I resumed a no-exercise-eat-whatever-I-can lifestyle. It stuck the whole pregnancy. I had a health scare around the time of his birth and for months afterward. I’m still recovering from a demineralization issue and am still super proactive about my supplements. I’m still nursing a baby, too. Just like I was last time I did this challenge. And it’s time to shed a few post-partum pounds.
I know that many times for lots of moms, post-partum pounds tend to stay longer than they should. Please do realize that there is legitimate reason AND need for those pounds to stay around for nursing moms and babies to be their healthiest. However, when both mom and baby are healthy, and there are no nursing concerns, moms can afford a little wiggle room when it comes to getting back into shape with both food and exercise.
And so? It’s time for 42 Days to Fit! And I just love when people join me! It’s hard on your own, but with people alongside you for encouragement, you can do it!
